Appeal for information following reported commercial burglary in Sturminster Newton

Officers are appealing for information as they investigate a report of a commercial burglary in Sturminster Newton.

It was reported that a break-in occurred at the Old Market Dental Practice in Rivers Mead between 5.30pm on Tuesday 15 October and 8.15am on Wednesday 16 October 2024. Access was gained to a medical cupboard and various items, including defibrillator and prescription medication, were allegedly stolen.

Following enquiries, a local man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of burglary and he has been released on police bail as investigative work continues.

Sergeant Mia Jakeman, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on the night of Tuesday 15 October into the morning of Wednesday 16 October 2024 to please contact us.

“I would also urge any local residents and businesses with CCTV, as well as motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity, to please review any footage for anything that might help our investigation.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to strongly advise members of the public not to purchase any medication, other than when prescribed by your doctor. Use of non-prescribed medicines will always carry a significant health risk to any individual. Any members of the public offered such prescription medicines are urged to report it to police.”
