CCTV appeal following thefts in Wimborne and Ferndown

Officers are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to identify as they continue to investigate thefts of hired tools in Wimborne and Ferndown.

It is reported that at around 4pm Friday 21 June 2024 two men attended Brandon Tool Hire in New Borough Road in Wimborne and an incorrect address was given to hire items valued at approximately £1,752.

It was later reported that the men also hired items from Travis Perkins in Cobham Road in Ferndown that same day.

None of the items have been returned to the companies as agreed.

Following enquiries, a man in his 60s from Lyme Regis was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop and fraud by false representation, and a man in his 30s from Wimborne was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop.

Both have been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Police Constable Chloe Norman, of Dorset Police, said: “We have been making a number of enquiries to identify those involved and have arrested two people.

“We are now in a position to release a CCTV image of a further man we would like to identify as part of our ongoing investigation.

“I would urge anyone who recognises them to please contact us.”
