Rogue Traders Safety Advice

PCSO Sadie has received reports of potential Rogue Traders operating in Weymouth. Please read the following advice to protect yourself from becoming a victim of Rogue Trading:

1) Be careful - if a trader knocks at the door, do not agree to any work on the spot without seeking advice from a reputable trader first.  If the trader refuses to leave your address, call Police on 999.

2) Rogue Traders may try and pressure you by mentioning ‘special deals’ or saying work is urgent. Try and think this work over and discuss with family/friends/neighbours to support you getting the work done correctly.

3) Get an uninvited trader door sticker - You can download a sticker via the Dorset Council Website: Get an uninvited trader door sticker - Dorset Council If displayed in your door and a trader fails to leave, they commit a criminal offence.

There are different websites you can contact to find reputable traders to reassure you that the trader is legit such as: Buy with confidence

Please contact Dorset Police on 101 or Trading Standards at Dorset Council via their website: Reporting to Trading Standards - Citizens Advice. Always use 999 in an emergency.
