Witness appeal following attempted burglary in Poole

Officers investigating an attempted burglary in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 6am on Thursday 17 April 2025, Dorset Police received a report from the victim – a man aged in his 50s – that a man had attempted to break into a residential property in Ashley Road.

It is reported that the glass of the front door was smashed and the handle tried before the victim confronted the suspect, causing him to run away.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his 20s and he was wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans.

Police Constable Alice Beavon, of Poole police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident.

“I would also ask residents with home CCTV and motorists driving in the area at the time with dashcams fitted to please review their footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance to our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250054217. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
