KIDS ON HOLIDAY - A farm in the Sixpenny Handley area on 27th May had a problem with young children ‘messing around’ on their farm. This included moving things around, some damage and burning string. The burning in particular caused concern as it raised worries they could return and burn bales etc. So best to be extra vigilant during the holiday period and longer evenings.
HERITAGE CRIME - Historic England state “ Heritage crime is any offence which harms the value of heritage assets and their settings”. Many of your farms contain historic monuments, Bronze Age Barrows for example. Historic England take any damage to these sites very seriously. Recently in the Coombe Valley, Weymouth area so called ‘night-hawkers' ( illegal digging & metal detecting) were disturbed by a vigilant Gamekeeper during the night. Please don't hesitate to contact the Police and/or Historic England if you see or are aware of any such illegal activity. Dorset Police Rural Crime Team work closely with Historic England and will always try to follow up any reported incident.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE - As your aware we unfortunately gets lots of such calls - which we always welcome as sightings can help us direct resources to the right area and provide invaluable intelligence. One such call was made in the Martinstown area last night. A sus small van and trailer was disturbed near a paddock contained a small flock of sheep. They got away before the Reg.Number could be seen.
Enjoy the welcome rain and warm evenings! | ||||
