Please see below details of recent crimes committed in your area: Damage to Speed Indication Device (SID) Reference number: 55250084309 Officers are investigating damage to speed indication device (SID) are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The incident occurred between the 6th and 8th June 2025 in Osmington. We are concerned that a S.I.D battery has been recently stolen. It may be that the offender ‘doesn't like’ SID's or they were after the actual battery. Either way this has a big impact on the residents of the village who maintain their S.I.D for obvious safety reasons.
We're also concerned should this become a common occurrence. If you see persons acting suspiciously near a S.I.D then please don't hesitate to contact us via 101. If they are actually damaging and/or stealing it then please dial '999. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting the relevant reference number. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111. Please do not use Dorset Alert to report a crime or something else that requires urgent police attention as we are unable to log details via this system.
You should call 999 if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
