Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of inspectors, sergeants, police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

NPTs provide a visible and accessible policing presence, building strong relationships with residents, businesses and partner agencies. They work to identify and tackle local priorities such as anti-social behaviour, crime prevention and community safety concerns. By listening to the community and acting on what matters most, they help create safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Dorset.

Drug Related Criminality. Location: Alleyway adjacent to Charminster Road Issue: Drug and associated criminality, leading to members of the public and local community feeling unsafe. Planned action to tackle this issue: • Multi-agency work as part of a holistic response • Neighbourhood officers will regularly patrol the area and deal with offenders robustly Issued 01 October 2026	November Update: - Regular hot spot policing patrols have taken place - The Neighbourhood Policing Team have worked with Trading Standards in Charminster Road to tackle illegal tobacco and vape sales. This has resulted in lots of counterfeit goods being seized October Update: This priority remains a concern for local residents, therefore it has been rolled over. • Regular hotspot policing patrols conducted along Charminster Road, providing a visible presence to deter offending and reassure the local community. • PCSOs have targeted youth-related ASB, including the seizure of an e-scooter and engagement with partner agencies to help divert young people away from offending behaviour. • Officers arrested two prolific offenders in Charminster in connection with drug and theft-related offences. • Officers arrested a male in Winton Recreation Ground for drug-related offences, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs and cash. September Update: • Regular hot-spot policing patrols on Charminster Rd. • Hi visibility patrols and resident engagement in Chelsea Gardens, Cyril Park and Iddesleigh Road. • Large amount of drugs removed from a local address with a male assisting Police with enquiries. Issue: Shoplifting offenders and beggars causing alarm to members of the public Planned action to tackle this issue: • Neighbourhood officers will regularly patrol the area and deal with offenders robustly • The Neighbourhood Policing Team will work closely with the local authority’s anti-social behaviour team regarding enforcement Issued 01 October 2026	November Update: - Regular hot spot policing patrols have been conducted - The Neighbourhood Policing Team have arrested numerous prolific shoplifters. One of whom was arrested and charged with several offences, resulting in a 52-week prison sentence - A prolific beggar in Winton High Street was arrested for offences. They have not returned to the shopping area of Wimborne Road October Update: This priority remains a concern for local residents, therefore it has been rolled over. • Regular hot spot policing patrols resulted in the detention of two prolific shoplifters which led to multiple charges and remand in custody • Continued welfare and support provision for homeless persons • Community Contact Point at Waitrose to engage positively with local communities and to gather timely community intelligence September Update: • Regular hot-spot policing patrols in Wimborne Rd.. • Well attended Community Contact Point held at Waitrose providing residents updates. • Working closely with partner agencies to resolve ongoing beggars in the area.
