East Dorset Urban

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of inspectors, sergeants, police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

NPTs provide a visible and accessible policing presence, building strong relationships with residents, businesses and partner agencies. They work to identify and tackle local priorities such as anti-social behaviour, crime prevention and community safety concerns. By listening to the community and acting on what matters most, they help create safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Dorset.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour) in Corfe Mullen

Location:
Corfe Mullen.

Issue:
- Youths in the local area have been causing a range of issues affecting the local area. Children have been using catapults to shoot are various pieces of road furniture and private property causing damage. Other issues relate to knocking on doors of vulnerable people and frightening them.
- There is also drug related begging in the area relating to adults which again is targeting the vulnerable people within the community.

Planned action to tackle this issue:
- Conduct high visibility patrols.
- We will hold engagement with the local community, through interaction of foot patrol and Community Contact Points.
- We will work in collaboration with local schools.
- We will work in collaboration with partner agencies such as the community safety partnership, working on education and interventions.
- We will use criminal legislation where criminal offences occur.

Issued 01 July 2026

September Update:
- Conducting targeted high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations.
- Engaging directly with residents through foot patrols and Community Contact Points.
- Working closely with local schools to educate and divert young people from anti-social behaviour.
- Partnering with Dorset Council, Corfe Mullen Parish Council, the Corfe Mullen Youth Trust, and other agencies to provide preventative interventions and support.
- Identified and engaged with young people responsible for nuisance behaviour and criminal damage.
- Issued words of advice, warning letters and utilised anti-social behaviour legislation where appropriate.
- Taking enforcement action where offences are identified, including the use of dispersal powers and criminal investigations.

August Update:
- We have been working closely with the Council's ASB Team, Corfe Mullen Parish Council and the Corfe Mullen Youth Trust to address community concerns. Through this partnership, we have identified a group of young people involved in "knock-and-run" incidents, which have caused significant distress to elderly and vulnerable residents.
- We have also identified several individuals linked to theft and anti-social behaviour offences at local stores, and a number have recently been interviewed as part of ongoing investigations.
- On Tuesday 28 July, we held our first pop-up youth engagement event in partnership with the Corfe Mullen Youth Trust at Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground. The sessions will run every Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm throughout the summer holidays. Around 20 young people attended the first event, which was well received by all involved.

July Update:
Whilst this situation has improved, we are conscious of the summer months and need to ensure efforts are continued to tackle this problem, therefore this priority has been reissued and work will continue to tackle ASB in the area over the upcoming summer months. We are also aware of drug related ASB/Begging in the area. This has now been incorporated into the priority.

June Update:
- Individuals identified for ASB. Police and partners are working together on interventions to address behaviours.
- A key pair, who have targeted vulnerable people, have been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
- Community Contact Points (CCPs) have taken place in collaboration with Local Councillors to engage with the community.
- Work with local schools is taking place.
- A number of dispersal notices have been issued and arrests made.

May Update:
- Community contact points (CCPs) have been placed in Corfe Mullen to support engagement with the public to listen to concerns, obtain intelligence and share the work we have already completed.
- Joint working with you social services and schools.
- Hi-visibility foot patrols in key locations.
- Disruption of planned ASB by youths.

Drug Related ASB.

Location :
Leigh Park Estate Wimborne

Issue:
Residents are being affected by ASB of those who are dealing and using drugs in the area.

Planned action to tackle this issue:
- We will work in partnership with the local authority and housing on civil interventions.
- We will carry out hotspot patrols.
- We will engage with the local community
- We will develop intelligence

Issued 01 July 2026

September Update:
- Increasing patrols in areas identified through intelligence and community reports.
- Using intelligence to identify patterns as to when and where the incidents are taking place.
- Developing intelligence regarding suspected drug activity, individuals and addresses involved in supplying controlled drugs.
- Working with housing providers, Dorset Council, and partner agencies to disrupt criminality and safeguard vulnerable individuals.
- Encouraging residents to continue reporting concerns to help identify offenders and direct police resources effectively.
- Visited addresses of concern and engaged with residents affected by drug-related ASB.

August Update:
- We are currently applying for another Closure Order at a local address in Wimborne following an increase in drug-related and drug-linked offences. A court hearing is scheduled for this month, and we are hopeful of a positive outcome.
- We are also taking action to address other locations associated with anti-social behaviour (ASB), drug use and suspected drug dealing. Community information is vital in helping us build a clearer picture of where offences are taking place. If you have any information, please report it online. Every report helps us identify patterns, gather evidence and target enforcement activity where it is needed most.

July Update: This is a new priority. An Update will be provided in August.
